Taiwanese Man Arrested Attempting to Smuggle Drugs to Japan

Phnom Penh, March 11, 2024: Authorities at Phnom Penh International Airport apprehended a Chinese-Taiwanese passenger last night, March 10, 2024, as he attempted to board a flight bound for Japan. Customs and Excise Department officials discovered 35 packs of white powder concealed on the individual's person.

Preliminary tests conducted by the Anti-Drug Department revealed that the substance was methamphetamine, with a total weight of 4,965.30 grams.

The suspect, along with the confiscated drugs and related materials, has been handed over to the Anti-Drug Department for further investigation and legal proceedings.

This incident follows a recent crackdown on drug trafficking, as just days earlier, on March 3, 2024, authorities arrested two Korean couples attempting to leave Cambodia for South Korea while in possession of over 2 kilograms of narcotics.
